Food Storage Tips to Keep Your Fridge Organized and Clean

A fridge can be one of the most challenging places to keep clean and organized. With so many different food items, it can be hard to know where to put everything. However, by taking some time to carefully store and segregate your food, you can keep your fridge clean and organized with ease. Here are some tips on how to do just that.

1. Meat, poultry and seafood
Raw meat, poultry, and seafood should always be stored in the coldest part of your fridge. This usually means the bottom shelves or in the meat drawer. These items should also be wrapped tightly in order to prevent any cross-contamination.

2. Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables can be stored in a variety of places in your fridge, depending on their ripeness. For example, ripe fruits can be stored on the counter or in a fruit bowl, while unripe fruits should be kept in the crisper drawer. Similarly, leafy greens can be stored in the crisper drawer, while root vegetables like potatoes and carrots can be stored in a designated vegetable bin or on a lower shelf.

3. Dairy
Dairy products should also be stored in the coldest part of your fridge, which is usually the back of the top shelf. This includes items like milk, cheese, and yogurt. Butter can either be kept on the counter or in the fridge, depending on your preference.

4. Eggs
Eggs should always be stored in their designated egg tray in the fridge door. If you don't have an egg tray, you can store them on a lower shelf in their carton.

5 . Ready-to-Eat Foods
Ready-to-eat foods like deli meats, hot dogs, and lunch meats should also be stored in the fridge door for easy access. These items can also be stored in airtight containers or Ziploc bags to help extend their shelf life.

6 . Condiments
Condiments like ketchup, mustard, salad dressing, and mayonnaise can all be stored together on a door shelf or in a designated condiment drawer for easy access.

By taking some time to store your food correctly, you can keep your fridge clean and organized with ease. By storing raw meat on the bottom shelves or in the meat drawer, fruits and vegetables in the crisper drawer, dairy products on the top shelf, eggs in their designated egg tray or on a lower shelf, ready-to-eat foods in the fridge door ,and condiments on a door shelf or condiment drawer , you will find it much easier to keep your kitchen clean and organized .
