Baton crackers filled with cheese
Baton crackers filled with cheese is a lovely savory recipe, baked in the oven.
Cooking time: 20 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees celsius
You'll need:
- Hard white salty cheese: 250gm
- Butter: 200gm
- Sour cream: 100gm
- Flour: 500gm
- Eggs: 3
- Sesame seeds (to sprinkle over)
- Caraway seeds (to sprinkle over)
The recipe:
Place the flour, butter, sour cream, 2 eggs and the cheese in a large bowl and knead until homogenized. Wrap the dough in clingfilm and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
When ready, sprinkle flour over your table (the surface you'll be working the dough on) and spread the dough over while trying to maintain a rectangle shape and a relative dough thickness of 1cm.
Now slice the dough in the desired shape; for optimal results, keep the thickness at 1cm and the width at 1.5cm. The length does not impact the cooking time or result, therefore choose it according to your preferences.
Place a layer of baking paper over the baking tray and lay the dough pieces on it while ensuring you leave some space between each piece to avoid sticking and undercooking. Whisk the remaining egg and brush the crackers with it, then sprinkle sesame & caraway seeds over, according to taste.
Bake for 20 minutes in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
